Gulmarg

Gulmarg is a beautiful hill station located at Kashmir, Gulmarg is a favrouite spot for Skiing in India, Gulmarg's beauty and prime location and proximity to Capital of Kashmir Srinagar naturally makes it one of the premier hill stations in the country. Gulmarg was originally called as 'Gaurimarg' by shepherds, Gulmarg's present name was given by Sultan Yusuf Shah , Who was inspired by the sight of Gulmarg's grassy slopes emblazoned with wild flowers.

Emperor Jehangir had collected 21 different species of flowers from Gulmarg and Gulmarg became favorite spot for Jehangir. Gulmarg has world's highest Golf Course, At an altitude of 2,650 m, and is the country's premier ski resort in the winter season.

Journey to Gulmarg is awesome , Roads have rigid avenues, rice fields,picturesque villages etc.

How to Reach : Gulmarg

Gulmarg is situated in Baramula Distt and located at 57Kms from Srinagar District .The nearest Airport from Gulmarg is in Badgam Distt.This Airport is connected with major cities of country. The nearest Rail Head to Gulmarg is at Jammu . The travel times from Srinagar to Gulmarg takes approx. 2 hours in regular buses and may take short time by chartered or own conveyance. The road to Gulmarg is lovely and is lined with beautiful trees all through.  is regularly available from Srinagar to Gulmarg.

Gulmarg has a beautiful Golf Course where Golf equipments are also available on hire.

Gandola ( Cable Car ) is also installed which is great hit with tourists and it takes tourists up to Kongdori.

Trek to Alpather Lake ( Frozen lake ) can be undertaken which is lake 13 Kms away from Gulamrg. This lake remains frozen even in June.

There is another spot called Khilanmarg which offers awesome view of the Himalayan peaks.

The famous shrine of Baba Reshi is also situated near GulMarg noted muslim saint who is revered by all faiths.
