Chandigarh is a well planned city, Endowed with magnificent backdrop of the Shivaliks, sparkling
gardens, is one of the most beautiful and glamorous
cities of India. With its lush green surroundings, blooming gardens, shady
trees, wide roads, excellent communications and the most charming people,
the city surely stands up to its name as the City Beautiful.
Chandigarh was conceived as the first planned city of independent India in
the early 1950s. Declared the common capital of the neighbouring states of
Punjab and Haryana, Natural beauty coupled with a multicultural
population has given rise to an impressive line-up of gardens, galleries,
museums complimented by some outstanding architecture.
It boasts
of broad boulevards, parks and lawns, a beautiful lake and is fast
developing as a third home for the Information Technology industry after
Bangalore and Hyderabad.
Average temperature
Summer:
The temperature in summer may rise to a maximum of 46.5°C. Temperatures
generally remain between 35° C to 42° C.
Autumn:
In autumn, the temperature may rise to a maximum of 36° C. Temperatures
usually remain between 16° to 27° in autumn. The minimum temperature is
around 13° C.
Winter:
Winters are quite cool and it can sometimes get quite chilly in Chandigarh.
Average temperatures in winter (November to February) remain at (max) 7° C
to 20 ° C and (min) 0° C to 5° C.
Spring:
The climate remains quite pleasant during the spring season. Temperatures
vary between (max) 16° C to 25° C and (min) 9° C to 18° C.
